I am super behind in posting...so you are getting Christmas tree decorating photos in January. Hopefully this year my blogging will be a little more frequent than last year!
We had to get our Christmas tree at Home Depot this year. It was very sad, we ALWAYS go and cut our own tree down, but this year every chance we had to go it was raining. It was even raining the day we went to Home Depot to get our tree, luckily they had all the trees in a nice, dry tent. We did get a great tree, so I can't complain too much.
Dylan LOVES to help decorate the house during the holidays and especially the Christmas tree. Dave not so much. I'm happy to have my little buddy help me though!

The Masters
Dave was lucky enough to go to The Masters again this year (if anything, him getting his Class A professional classification was worth getting into all golf tournaments for free!). Here are a couple of my favorite photos that he took. (want to see ALL the photos? Check out my Flickr stream)

Playing catch up
I am way behind in posting. My sister visited in January and I have a great photo of her with Dylan and Harper, but it's on the computer and didn't get uploaded to Flickr so I haven't posted it. Everything seems like that lately, just a little behind.
We have been busy lately, but it seems like it is just with everyday stuff, taking care of the kids, working, running, oh, yes I did say running. I bet you didn't think you would her me say that BOTH of us would be running... this would have been most appropriate for me a few weeks ago...
or maybe this...
Not anymore my friends, I started the couch to 5k program with Fleet Feet last week. I did some run/walks for the week before training started and I think that helped me loosen up because I haven't really been too sore yet. I did my longest run on Sunday, 20 minutes without stopping! It was about 1.2 miles, so not super impressive time wise or even distance, but for me it was huge! I also moved up running groups last night and ran with the run only group instead of the run 2 minutes walk 1 minute group. I actually was sweaty after last nights run (even though it was cold and windy) so I think that is the right group for me. It hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be considering I don't like running. I do have a bunch of weight I want to loose and running is the best way to do that (along with eating healthier of course) so I am sucking it up. I feel accountable to the group to show up for the runs and do the runs on the days I am not meeting at the store to do the group runs, so I can be ready for the longer distances.
It has been hard for Dave though. Now he is home with the kids two nights a week while I am out running, usually seeing his friends that are still meeting for group runs. He is getting runs in with friends on other days though. However, there is a pub run on Thursday that I am going to and he will be home with the kids. I am pretty sure his worlds are colliding, but he is handling it well. We won't have young kids at home forever, so eventually we will be able to do what we want, when we want.
Harper continues to be adorable. She is so close to rolling over. Although I am secretly dreading it because then she won't be able to sleep swaddled in her sleep sack at night. I am hoping that she will sleep well on her tummy though and start sleeping through the night. Right now she goes to bed at 7pm and usually wakes up once a night, sometimes its 12:30 sometimes is 3, 4 or 5 am. I would like to put her to bed later so we don't get woken up in the middle of the night, but she is just DONE by 6:45 or so.
Dylan will be starting coach pitch baseball in a few weeks. He loves staying home with Dave two days a week. Usually one of those days they will meet me for lunch. They stay busy doing chores around the house, golfing, playing outside and running errands. Dylan is also a great helper with Harper and loves to give her kisses and always makes sure he tells her good night and gives her a kiss. Harper is enamored with Dylan, when she hears him talk she looks at him with huge smiles and just stares. It really is sweet.
Harper's baptism is in a few weeks and we are super excited to have a bunch of family coming in to celebrate with us. What have you been up to?!

A quick getaway
A few weeks ago Dave and I were lucky enough to take a short trip to Florida sans kids! Grandma Carolyn came to Knoxville to watch Harper and Dylan so Dave and I could head to Southwest Florida to visit Ed and Sharon.
We had such a great and relaxing time. We had great seafood (and other awesome meals cooked by Ed), went shopping, boating, and to the beach. Dave golfed with Ed and Sharon, I got a nap in every day and we even made it out to see a Journey tribute band.
It was sooo nice to be able to get a few nights of uninterrupted sleep and not worry about what the kids were doing! We were really in need of a break!

Boring Dad
I told Dave he should tell Harper about his day and this is what happened...
Now we know an easy way to put her to sleep!

Already a runner...
Dylan has started to ask Dave if he can go running with him. Usually Dave meets his running group, so it's out of the question for Dylan to go run with them. However, sometimes Dave just runs from our house. Dylan really wanted to go with him a few weeks ago, so I suggested they run around our neighborhood before Dave went out on his actual run.
Dylan had such a great time. As I am sure you know he is super active and unless he is watching tv he is moving. He did a great job running with Dave and even made it up the steep hills in our neighborhood.

Omaha Marathon
I figured I had better get this post up before Dave leaves for the Chicago marathon on Friday!
The Omaha Marathon was Sunday, September 23rd. Dave and Andrew arrived in Omaha the Thursday before the race and were entertained by Kyle and Amie and other family and friends until race day. Andrew was able to experience such Midwestern specialties as a swampdog donkey burger in Neola, as well as actual cuisine at M's Pub in Omaha. I'm glad they took him to M's Pub first ;)
On to the marathon, along with Dave and Andrew, Dave's friend from high school, Andrew (I know another Andrew, we'll call him Andy for this post) also ran the marathon. The weather was perfect for the marathon, cool to start off, in the 40's and then warming up to the 60's by the time they finished. It was certainly much cooler than these guys are used to, but it worked in their favor, Andrew and Andy had personal bests in the race! Andrew ran his race in 3:40 and Andy shaved 20 minutes off his time from his first marathon! Dave came in 2 minutes past his personal best at 4:09, which is still awesome. The next race is Chicago on Sunday, good luck guys!
Here are some photos from the race (thanks Sherrie and Carolyn!)

First T-ball Game
Dylan had his first tball game last Tuesday. Dave and I had so much fun watching all the kids. Some did a good job of paying attention and watching when the other team was up to bat. Other kids played in the dirt, pulled up the grass, watched the train go by and sat down on the field. Dylan did a little of everything. He does love fielding the ball though and where ever the ball was hit he would run over there to try and get it. He started out in the outfield and then moved to second base, which was a much better fit for him to be able to field the ball. He did a pretty good job hitting the ball too. He had a great time playing and does a pretty good job of listening to his coaches. They play two innings per game, kids get to swing as many times as they need to to hit the ball and they don't keep score (no outs or runs are counted). At first I was skeptical of the fact that no-one wins the game, but after seeing these kids play there really would be no reason to count outs or keep score. And even if they did count outs it would take forever to get to 3! 95% of the kids are just learning the game, they all have fun and learn how to play which is most important right now.
We have 2 games a week for the next few weeks and then one game a week in October. The games along with gymnastics are keeping us busy just about every night of the week. Dylan doesn't seem to mind though, when we don't have something to do at night he's not super excited to go home. I guess that is good though, he is definitely having fun playing different sports!
(lots of photos below! #5 is Dylan's number)

We had a great time again this year at the Tennessee Valley Fair. Dylan loved the petting zoo, riding the donkey and of course the rides!

Laurel Falls Hike
Last Monday Dave, Dylan and I had a rare day to spend together and while it was raining when we woke up I was sure it would clear up by the time we made it to Laurel Falls for our hike. Dylan loves hiking and it's been a long time since we have been able to make it up to the mountains for a hike. I decided on Laurel Falls for a few reasons, the waterfall, a paved trail and a relatively short hike (1.3 miles each way). The first hike Dave and I did when we moved to Tennessee over 6 years ago was Laurel Falls. I'd forgotten that it's basically uphill the entire way to the falls...
Dylan had a great time as usual and ran up most of the trail. He did have fun posing for photos too and wanted his photo taken on every rock we passed! Now if only we could get him to hike in shoes instead of rain boots!

No strikes for Dylan
We took Dylan bowling for the first time a few weeks ago. He had a great time and especially loved his bowling shoes. He even asked if he could take them home!
We haven't been bowling since Dave's 30th birthday, which is now 4 years ago! That does coincide with someone else turning 4 in a few weeks, coincidence? I think not.
Dave did a great job bowling as usual and Dylan did pretty good for it being his first time. I thought I did good considering I was 20+ weeks pregnant. Dylan only lofted the ball one time, which was impressive. He also had some rockin bowling moves that he put on display after he would roll the ball down the lane.

Photo Shoot
We tried to take a couple of photos of Dave and Dylan on Father's Day (behind much in posting...anyway) but as you can see from the photos below, it took a little while to get a decent shot of both Dave and Dylan. I think the 4th photo is my favorite, I love the expression on Dylan's face!

Two weeks in July
As I am sure you are aware, my lack of posting has not gotten any better over the past month. However, I do have some updates and photos for you!
We had a fun 4th of July and days around it. Dylan loved the fireworks, snakes, and sparklers. We didn't go to a big fireworks display, but we did go over to our neighbors to set off a few fireworks for the kids. That seemed to be enough entertainment for the 5 and under crowd.
We also went to the Farragut 4th of July parade with friends. The boys had a great time getting all the candy and fun stuff the people were throwing out.
Dylan and I have continued our Saturday morning trips to the Market Square Farmers Market. Dylan must get a cream cheese roll from VG's bakery and I have been stocking up on tomatoes until our plants started producing tomatoes.
We also made it to our first drive-in movie as a family. We all had a great time watching Brave. The next day was not as exciting since Dylan didn't sleep in after staying up until midnight...

Sand trap
Dylan still loves to go golfing. He especially likes to go out to Tennessee National and actually play. Since Dave has been working more hours lately Dylan and I have been meeting Dave at the club and playing golf while the last few players on the course finish up.
